Safe Packaging Principles for Cookies and Sweet Bakes

Understand food-contact layers, support, movement, humidity, labels, and vehicle position so delicate sweets remain better protected in transit.

Additional protective packing for a sweet parcel

Food packaging protects shape and cleanliness. A strong outer layer does not replace an appropriate food-contact container inside.

Reduce movement

Products that move inside a box will collide. Use dividers, trays, or a correctly sized space without pressing on the decoration.

Check before travel

  • Every item is covered from dust and direct contact.
  • The lid closes without pressing the contents.
  • Empty space has suitable support.
  • The upright label is easy to see.
  • Temperature and storage guidance is included.

Separate outer and inner protection

Bubble wrap or reinforced cardboard protects against external impact, while food containers keep products clean and stable. They serve different functions.

Keep the package on a flat surface

In a vehicle, use a level floor rather than a tilted seat. Never stack heavy objects on top of food packaging.

Photograph the package before departure and explain opening instructions to the recipient. Simple documentation helps both sides understand its starting condition.
